WHY THINGS I HAVE HEARD TEACHERS SAY ARE FALSE:

"America had free speech until the current administration"

CLAIM:

There is NO evidence that Trump took legal steps to threaten free speech.

In fact, Trump signed an executive order aimed at limiting federal involvement in online censorship and protecting Americans’ speech from government interference, in 2025.

By contrast, under Joe Biden, federal officials were found by a lower court to have violated Free Speech by pressuring social media platforms to remove content (Murthy v. Missouri).

It appears this teacher was brainwashed and is now spreading misinformation.

"One Nation is a far-right extremist party"

CLAIM:

According to the Australian Intelligence Organisation (ASIO), right-wing extremism is defined as: ‘the support for violence to achieve political outcomes relating to ideologies, including but not limited to, white supremacism and Neo-Nazism’.

There is no evidence that One Nation meets this definition. They have never advocated political violence and instead frequently call for tougher national security and counter-terrorism measures. Additionally, the party’s public support for Israel directly contradicts claims of neo-Nazism, and none of its policies have anything to do with race.

Even if you don’t agree with this definition, their policies (e.g., economic nationalism, immigration reform, tax and infrastructure plans, and broader “Australian jobs first” domestic policy agenda) are characteristic of centre-right or right-wing politics, not extremist movements.

This teacher is trying to push their own, false, agenda.
